What happens after closing
People drive past your building after dark constantly, and what they see is either a lit facade
https://evercrestlighting.com/ or a dark rectangle. A dark building reads as closed, and in a quieter way it reads as not there. Light means the building is still communicating. This is not a cosmetic line item for a business. A building that reads clearly at night is working for you during hours you are not open. It is one of the few exterior expenses that runs every night without further input.
Storefront and facade lighting
The facade is legible from further away than lettering. Light the features, not the whole face, so the building has a form people learn. Company colors can be part of the plan with a permanent LED system, and they can shift for a season, a holiday or an event.
Where customers actually are
Poorly lit entries lose people quietly. Make the way in unambiguous from wherever people park. For restaurants, the patio is capacity that only exists if it is lit. Warm, dim and overhead: the same rules as a home patio, with more riding on it.Commercial lighting decisions also tend to outlast the people who make them, so it is worth writing down what was installed and why while everybody still remembers.
Neighborhood and community entrances
A neighborhood entrance is the sign for the whole development. Light on the entry structure and its landscaping reads as maintained and cared for. For a residential development, this is grounds maintenance with a visible payoff.
The part that takes planning
The process is the same: look at the building, draw the plan, install it. What changes is the calendar. Install windows work around opening hours, which is a conversation to have early rather than late.
The holiday advantage for businesses
A permanent system has an advantage for commercial property that homeowners care less about: the building can change color on a schedule with no crew involved. Holiday colors in December. Orange in October. Team colors during a season. A brand palette by default. No annual booking, no scheduling, no return visit.
The approach
The approach is rarely on the lighting plan, and it is the part every customer physically experiences. People notice a dark walk without ever saying so. The walk matters, even if it is the least interesting line item.Worth saying: a commercial plan can be phased. Start where the building faces traffic, then work inward toward where customers stand.
